Mataro is the original and the primary legal synonym for this variety in California but is also known as Mourvẻdre. Sourced from ancient vines in Contra Costa County, this block is still farmed by the Spinelli family.

     This deep-colored wine has nice flavors of blackberry fruit with hints of Provencal herbs. With such a bold tannin structure this wine will age well for 5 – 7 years. This earthy wine pairs well with rustic fare like stews and roasts.
